Tutor helping struggling child with math and science
Invite your children to make their own New Year's resolutions this year. Here are some ideas they can add to their list of goals.

Everyone Should Make Resolutions at Home

New Year’s resolutions are meant to help us improve ourselves or make positive changes in our lives. This year, invite your children to join the tradition. Resolutions can be excellent learning opportunities. They teach children how to set goals and to go through with them. Start by talking to your children about resolutions and give them some examples so they can come up with some of their own. If you can’t think of anything, here are some ideas.

I Will Eat Three Pieces of Fruit a Day

Resolutions should be set positively and not make your children feel like there is something wrong with them. The goal here is to get them to eat healthier without taking away their favorite treats. If you want them to eat more fruits and less candy, get them to agree on a specific number for the day.

I Will Clean My Room Every Sunday

Your children can resolve to help more around the house by specifying they will clean their room once a week. This is a smart way to set a goal involving chores because they will feel like they’re doing their part to contribute at home.

I Will Join a Sports Team

Exercise can be beneficial to your children’s academic learning. But saying that you will exercise more sounds vague and boring. Your children can enjoy the mental benefits of exercise by joining a sports team. Team sports are definitely a fun way to get moving.

I Will Learn to Make Pizza

Learning a new skill should be on everyone’s list. Just saying I will learn a new skill gives your children a lot of wiggle room. Ultimately they might not end up reaching that goal. By saying they will learn something specific like how to make pizza, it’s a guarantee that they will learn something new. Maybe they will find that they're really talented in the kitchen!

I Will Improve My Grades by Signing up for Tutoring at The Tutoring Center, Bear
